Problem with 4WD and A.D.D Controls

I am having problem with engaging/disengaging 4WD system.
I have a Limited 2000 4Runner that has push in button on the 4wd selector stick. When I pressed it, the lights on the dash that shows 4wd system engaged are blinking. Unlocking the button or moving lever to 4wd or 2wd position
are not doing anything. Now I am half way into 4wd. I feel that the front wheels have engaged into 4wd mode, where I currently stuck. Please help me resolve this issue before EC4RJ event in 2 weeks.

I had the same problem awhile ago. BruceTS helped me troubleshoot. It was a problem with the vacuum going to the solenoids. Thanks Bruce :)

This is exactly what I was thinking.
Bruce, can you help me with some diagnostic.

Thanks,

There may be nothing wrong at all, go offroad and put it in 4WD low range and drive it around a bit, sometimes things get a bit sticky if the system hasn't been used. As for explaining exactly what may cause your problems, that would take quite a bit of explaining, since your system is quite a bit different than the link provided from another member. Not only do you have a standard ADD system, but a center diff lock as well and they are both interconnected. If you can get a Factory manual, there is a good trouble shooting guide on the system.

Thanks Bruce.

Try reversing and engaging 4WD. It worked for me when my ADD wasn't working. It's been working fine for about 5 months now.

Thanks for reminding me about it. I'll put them on my list.
See you there.
