Prepping a stock 99TRD for MOAB

Anyone have suggestions on prepping a Stock 1999 Tacoma TRD x-cab 5-spd + e-locker for MOAB.

Our group is making a run next year and I'm not wanting to tow the rock buggy 33hrs. each way.

I'm guessing Steering and Sheetmetal are my biggest liabilities.

I'm considering a Shrock bumper / skids / sliders and maybe a 1" body + Coil spacers...

I'm still stuck on weather to keep it small and hwy happy / ski boat towing happy or go big and throw caution to the wind. I've got (2) off road only vehicles + the rock buggy so teh Taco is ment to be a clean get around family hauler.

Damn, that's a long drive!

FWIW. I took my 95.5 Taco, on 32" BFG's, no locker, no sway bar, 2" lift, good bumpers and sliders and went A BUNCH of places in Moab (and Colorado). Since you have so far to drive and have other trail rigs, I'd go for less is more. It really depends on where all you want to take your Taco. Set it up so you can drag the rear end and not tear up the body (bumpers/sliders) good tires, minimal lift and just go and have fun.

my .02 cents

Thanks for the reply and first hand info.

Any suggestions on where I can find more info on stockish x-cabs at Moab.

If you scroll down the page to the Pirate member named "deange", you can see their setup. It's not a 99', but close enough.
