PO446 on a 2002 Toyota Sequoia
I wanted to know where the vent valve solenoid is located? I am trying to troubleshoot the po446 code. I can see the purge valve solenoid on the canister. I already changed out the gas cap with one from the dealer when I purchased the vehicle. When I clear the code it takes awhile but then I eventually get it again. I didn't have any of the lines smoked tested again but would assume if one is cracked it would be throwing code quick and sometimes I do not get the code for 3 weeks or more and travel a lot for hockey. Any Info would be appreciated. The dealer said they can only replace the whole canister assembly. I did find a purge valve but cant find a vent valve part. Any help appreciated!

When you clear codes, 250 or so miles must be driven before you'll know whether the code cleared. Fyi.....in that 250 mile time, an emissions test will fail.
I addressed my own 446 code today. I watched a youtube vid, put a rubber hose on the inlet, blew and heard air escaping the cannister box. It had a 1.5 inch crack on the bottom. I pulled it and sealed the crack with shoe goo. Reset battery........we'll see in 200+ miles. My emissions test is in oct so i'm starting my no check engine light quest now. Hope this helps......99 4runner. |
