plug gap on S.C engine
 

what is a good plug gap for a S.C Taco?I am currently running iridium plugs gaped at .035 has anyone found a better gap?

Stock gap is best. .044"

Which iridiums did you buy in what heat range?

Where did you get them and what did you pay for them?

Did you notice any difference in the way the engine runs?

the stock plugs I was having top end sputtering and TRD suggested diff plugs with the 7th inj . after reading the form your site and calling NGK the tech suggested these, after I put them, in a week I got a misfire and a check eng light . so I added more gap so now they are .035 .I am still getting intermittant hesitation .it could be bad fuel or I was thinking my gap is too narrow.
so far I am happy with them the motor seams to run well and I am getting good mpg.

Try opening the gap to .044" and let me know how that works.

The install manual for the 7th injector kit recommends Denso IK20 (TRD part number 00602-17620-262) plugs gapped to 0.032" which is what I installed with the SC. They seem to be working well for me but since I installed them at the same time as the SC I can't compare the difference from stock plugs.

ive been having problems running other plugs. Ive been getting strange surging and pinging. Went back to the stock densos which are soo nicely priced and the surging went away!!!

There really should be no reason the stock plugs will not give the best results.

I regapped at .044 and a fresh tank of 93 it pulls nice and clean up to redline.
there was some carbon(black deposit) on the plug. I guess it was not burning all of the fuel.

I thought I heard recently that on turbos and/or superchargers the accepted method is to decrease the amount of gap in order to prevent the spark from basically getting blown out by the extra air moving around in the cylinder. Maybe for grins and giggles do a set with a lower gap and a set with a wider gap and compare.

That is what I have heard also that is why I set them at .035 after talking to manymods.. so far the truck perfomed well. I set the gap sunday A.M. drove around town and across the state . so far I am pleased with the performance . normaly it has a decrease in power around 3k rpms then the sc hits and then the inj that decrease is now 90% gone and I have only taken it to redline a few times and there is no more top end decrease in power.
maybe the irridium plugs require a larger gap since the center electrode is smaller?
I am going to let it ride afor a few weeks and see how it feels.

So, Paxam, are your plugs at .035 or .044? I have a 3.4 w/ SC, headers, and exhaust and seems to have lost power w/ IK-16 ( from start to reline) in comparison to stock plugs. I have purchased a set of IK-20 at TRD's instruction- what should the gap be with my set up?
