Pedal Extensions?

Greetings, all.

First off, thanks to everyone who helped me out on the fuel injector information about three months back. I really appreciate the helpful insight. I got that problem resolved and successfully rebuilt the motor with no furthur trouble.

Now onto my next request for help. It is in regards to my fuel, brake and clutch pedal. My mother, who is the actual owner and operator of the 1988 Toyota P/U that I have been rebuilding for the past two years, is smaller in height than the average person. Needless to say, she has some difficulty reaching the pedals when driving the truck. The only way she is able to operate the vehicle is to have the driver seat adjusted all the way forward so that her nose is almost making contact with the steering wheel. This is something that really concerns me, since even a low speed collision can cause some real danger to her when sitting so close to the wheel and dash.

Does anyone know where I could purchase some pedal extensions at a budget price that would fit all three pedals in an '88 Pick-Up? I have found some on the web but they dont seem like they would fit and are very expensive.

Does Toyota sell aftermarket pedal kits that are longer than the stock ones?

Or does anyone know what pedals from another vehicle would interchange with this year, make, and model.

I would need about 4 - 5 inches of combined extra height and length.

I was going to attempt to make my own extensions using either pine 2x4s or aluminum electric switchboxes, but decided I would try this forum first. I dont really want her to feel insulted. If needed though I may have to proceed with this project. Has anybody done such a similar project?

Thanks in advance to anybody who can help. I appreciate all the help I could get.

Regards,
Eliyah

blocks of wood....
i remember back in the day, my mom, (only 4`8") got a VW bug from my uncle, hes a little taller than here, ok ALOT taller then her, anyways, i remember him just putting wood blocks on them somehow, she drove it for about a year untill she bought a brand new car. but im not sure if it was legal, but it worked for her.

Ya might look into getting extensions welded right to the arms. If you go to a small town shop they usually will fab up anything you want as long as you are willing to pay.
Like I said; SMALL TOWN = SMALL PRICE (usually)

It's looking like I will have to consider that as an option. Ill keep that in mind. Thanks.

Hmmmmm... 4 - 5" of extension is getting to the limits of add-on blocks on the existing pedals, but it's not quite enough to consider adding a second set of closer fold-down pedals that link to the OEM ones...
