Is this overKILL?

On an 88 4runner. Is a 4 inch suspension lift and 2 inch body lift OVERKILL for 33s? I dont want any rubbing and i want room to flex. Will it look weird running a 6 inch lift with 33s? I am asking because im going to be running 33s, but EVERY SO OFTEN i'll be running 35s. what do you think?

Flamedx4 02-23-2005 11:45 AM

You NEED that for 35s, but it's a bit much for 33s.

Tacoma750 02-23-2005 11:52 AM

would it look dumb? Or is it just not needed?

im goin to be running bushwac
ker fender flares aswell...

sherri_girl 02-23-2005 12:00 PM

what kind of tires and how wide are the rims?

Tacoma750 02-23-2005 12:03 PM

33 inch m/ts or mudders. Probably a 10.5 wide tire

I think it will look a little goofy with only a 10.50 wide tire. It probably wouldn't look too bad with a 12.50 wide tire.

woul di be better with a 4inch lift and a 1 inch bl? and 33s?

agreed. Also your choice of tire will make a difference. All 33s do not stand at the same height.

The width of your rim will also affect how your truck looks, not just the width of your tire.

Also you said you are going to occasionally be running 35s, will that be for road use only?

Tacoma750 02-23-2005 12:14 PM

no that will be for PARAGON and wheeling. My 33s will be for DD

So i want to run 33s on the street and 35s everynow and then.

Tacoma750 02-23-2005 12:14 PM

what woud you guys suggest i do then..lift width or tire/wheels? with a stock 4 cylinder and stock gearing for now...

getitdone 02-23-2005 12:20 PM

I also plan on doing a similar setup, 33's for street(dd), and 35's for serious offroading. Does anybody have any pics of ~6" of lift on a first gen with 33's?

sherri_girl 02-23-2005 12:21 PM

with 35s for wheeling you will need the extra clearance so less lift is not an option unless you wanna chop your fenders. For 33s with 6" lift and Bushwacker flares you'll need a tall and wide 33 like a Swamper 33" X 12.50 on a 10" wide rim. The Bushwackers will be the cut-out type?

Tacoma750 02-23-2005 12:22 PM

ya cut out type

sherri_girl 02-23-2005 12:27 PM

lemme see if I can find you a pic of a 1st gen with that set up

sherri_girl 02-23-2005 12:59 PM

well i cant find exactly what you're looking for but this guy has 4 suspension, 3 body and 35X13.50 tires with what seems to be some kind of extend-a-fender flares.
