Optima purchase!
 

Well, I ordered my Optima yesterday. I was going to purchase the battery at one of our local Autozone stores but went ahead and purchased here http://www.powerstridebattery.com. I went with the dual post yellow top. It took me awhile to find a site or location that sold the spacers for the Optima's. The local Interstate store, Pep Boys and Autozone looked at me like I was crazy - they do make them. Anyway, I decided just to get the battery from powerstride along with the spacer. Plus, I am very curious how they ship a battery. When it is installed I can throw some pics out if anybody is interested.

The Optimas have the acid all spiraled up somehow. I think its in fiberglass or something to keep it stationary. This makes it much safer to ship in a box with some packing material to cussion it from abusive UPS employees.

I'm convinced UPS purposly dammages all boxes over 20 pounds. They don't like lifting heavy stuff so they take out their frustration on your box. :dunno:

The Yellow top is the deep cycle one IIRC. Its made to routinely be nearly completely discharged and recharged.

i bought an optima, but found out the poles were on the wrong side. I returned it and bought something else. I later found out that they make an orange top, wich is the reverse polarity. I have no idea where you can buy it. But i wish i had gotten it because Opitma is bad ass.

I got my orange top also from powerstridebattery, fairly good price, $110 for orange top.

remember to also get red or yellow cover or base adapter as base spacer, or it will be too short.

FYI if anyone can get on a military base, I saw a good deal on Optima Yellow, Red, and Blue tops. Very good deals, they rival the internet deals and no shipping! Support your troops...

Being here in germany in a HUGE signal area 2 signal brigades in my town i have been quite lucky. We have a sort center where people bring old stuff they are getting rid of and people can go through it too. One of the local units had a bad battery in one of the signal vehicals and you know you should cahnge out all at once (a hummer has 4 batteries) and so they dump them at the sort center! :eek: Now I have an optima in my Celica and one in the 4runner and one extra. (FREE) I have to remember whenever I go to take a voltage meter because you don't want any dead ones!
