Opinion Poll: Painting My Grille?
Im thinking about it... 3 options:
1) keep it the same
2) paint the chrome strips, leave the emblem
3) paint chrome and emblem
just throwing ideas around for fun, wont have money for this for a little while as i have more important mods first!
im voting #2

If you paint the grille you should paint the bumper too. I'm painting my grille this weekend because i want my truck to be all black. I dont really care for the chrome.

btw- don't paint your grill. buy a black one from toyota for about $90 and then sell your chrome one on ebay. they're $140+ from a dealer.

if you go with the TJM you don't have to cut the bumper brackets FWIW
You can probably sell your 01 grill on YT. I am sure there are a few people that would like to update their ride

I can't stand grill guards -- they look like something a wannabe "mall runner" would have install. If it were mine, I remove the grill guard entirely and go with the OEM bumper, or replace the entire bumper with a TJM or an ARB.
If you keep it, leave it as is, IMO.

lee: some pics to fuel your mod fever... these are of brian's 2000 sr5 just before he sold it. all that's on there at that point are the front and rear bumpers painted black, the tag surround painted black, black pearl emblems, and the black grill from toyota - oh, and NO RUNNING BOARDS. it has 265/75-16 Bridgestone Dueler MT's and NO Lift in these pics...

I'm going today to get the black grille from Toyota for my '99. If I were you and you really wanted to do something with the front of the car...get the black grille from the dealer and get some black pearls...its amazing how much of a cleaner look it gives. I'll get some pics when I get mine all done.

You would be surprised how much just taking that extra crap off will change the look of your truck.
If you want to change your grill, I would try to line up a buyer for your grill. Once that is done, order the black one and be done.
This way you are not forking over a ton of cash for looks. Sell the crap first, then your pockets will lined with modding money.
FWIW just orders Stubbs deluxe sliders shipped for $320

nah the brish guard helps me here in the city right now... parallel parking here is gruesome and people often use the car behind them as a buffer.
i was just looking for opinions cause i was toying around in photoshop...
after spending so much on tires and lift and shocks, i need to do the next steps slowly.
also, the place in RI that sells sliders does them for a little over $100. the only problem is they dont come with the legs... so id have to find a solution for that.

What about a #4 option: keep the grill chrome, but get a plack pearl emblem?
I would do this and paint the bumper the same black as the rig.
Just an idea I thought Id throw out there.
