Lot of info on tranny coolers... not so much info on oil cooler kits, (mainly for turbos so I wouldn't expect as much).

Does anyone know of a kit for our trucks? Being supercharged, I'd like to bring the oil temp down a notch.

being a non supercharged vehicle, id still like to drop mine. heat is the enemy, anything to help would be good,

Seek and ye shall find. Hayden coolers = same as TRD.as I was told here. There are many options available. IPT and B&M also have been mentioned. Just depends on how large and how much you want to spend. I have the Hayden 678 on my 2000. I paid $55 on ebay and used the ties for the install. Purchased more tranny line and shielded everything in Kevelar Hyd. hose wrap. Very clean install that doesn't take very long. My.02cents

You know the 3.4 already has an oil cooler right? It is cooled by the engine coolant so a cooler thermostat will help with cooling the oil. You don't want to cool the oil too much, especially you you take a lot of short trips. The water doesn't get boiled off.

Gadget did some testing with his SCed 3.4 and a oil temp gauge and said the stock oil cooler works fine.

Just so we're all on the same page, the stock oil cooler on the 5ZVFE can be seen in this pic. Follow the cooling hose that runs from the thermostat area over the oil filter over the motor mount and into the oil cooler. http://community.webshots.com/photo/...42310107BbLKRD

If you want just a little extra cooling, get an oil filter relocation kit (adds about 1 qt capacity) and then put a cool-collar heat sink on the filter. Cheap and easy.

My bad, I figured he was talking about ATF cooler kits. Not engine oil.

MT- Thank you for the pics and advice. I didn't even consider the thermostat! With the TRD 160 thermostat, (comes with the 7th), maybe I shouldn't fool around with this after all. :hillbill:

It was discontinued but, can't seem to figure out why. There are many pages saying that it worked quite well. There does seem to be some other companies making similar products though. This is the only link I could find for one that might actually work. Maybe

I picked up an oil cooler from a celica, runs coolant around the collar. very similar setup thats on a lot of newer cars too. that's really the best way to cool it also, colder oil is more viscous and lubes like ˟˟˟˟ but if its to hot it breaks down and doesn't lube enough.
