OEM lift done!!!! Pics UPDATED!!!!

Well, tonight was the night... Parts used:

2004 Toyota Tundra TRD 4WD Front Coil: 48131-AF090
2004 Toyota Tundra TRD 4WD Front Coil: 48131-AF100
2004 Toyota TRD Tacoma Double Cab stock front shocks: 48510-A9160 - Tokico TRD Blue
2 3/8" top up spacers per side
1" Front Diff Drop
1995 Toyota FZJ-80 Land Cruiser used front coil springs
1995 Toyota FZJ-80 Land Cruiser stock rear shocks: 48531-69417 - Tokico Black

I was siprised that it was as tight of a squeeze as it was to get the tundra springs into the TRD taco shocks... The fronts took a little work to get the struts back into the truck too.... With 3 of us working on it we were 3 hours start to finish.. thought we made good time... Am going to order the drop panhard bar soon to finish the combo off...

Thoughts on the lift:

Truck rides amazing!! feels like driving around in a stock truck... rear end sits 1"+ higher than the front, will have to take measurments when all settles. Am happy overall with the height and ride... 285 are the perfect tire choice with this combo too....

I will have pics up soon... It was too dark to take any pics when we were done tonight sadly....

Cheers
Bob

Bob, if America was as efficient as you at implementing plans..

Anyway, you should know better than to post without pictures ready :nono:

Mr. Bob 03-23-2006 10:56 PM

Sorry :(

Its a bit of a teaser post I guess....The good news is, I can see how it looks any time I want :)

And Dave, you told me to take care of your truck.... How'm I doing so far??? 5 days in and it looks VERY different already...

Theres only one guy I know who was more efficient than me, but he had 7 days ;) .... that still gives me 2 :) ...... OK he wins.....

Cheers
Bob

As a side note, my "mods waiting for truck" section of my sig seems to be getting shorter.....

heh..i know it would have been hard to get decent pics so late...hope you got some good before shots to compare it to.

how bad does the ass sit up hight? mines got a bit of a rake to it too. im thinkin i might crank the coils up a bit more. to see if it evens out a bit.

oh..and your LC wheels. were they from the later 80's? did you have to get new nuts for em or did you use what was on the runner? ive got different lug nut seats on my two sets. apparently some had a black bevelled edge insert in em while others had no insert and a flat face...weird. maybe the yard i got em off just pieced together a set n didnt realize it

Mr. Bob 03-24-2006 05:18 PM

Hope you guys like!! I sure do!!!

im so jealous

d0ubledown 03-24-2006 05:55 PM

lookin good man! :great: cant really tell theres a 1" difference...its kinda weird huh? sometimes the rake is there...other times, it seems completely level  i like the blacked out centercaps...hows the coopers roadwise? pretty droney? id like to see how they do off road...

so whats next?

Mr. Bob 03-24-2006 06:12 PM

Well, I want to do a TJM-17 and rocksliders... im thinking thats whats next...

And Sonny... my brain is working quickly on a front locker install... I will let you know what my brian is thinking when I work it all out!!!

The coopers are DEADLY... I only have like 50KMS on them, but so far they are quiet... they are SOO close to the MTRs

I cant wait for Dave to see these pics!!! heheheh....

Cheers
Bob

Man Mr. Bob, that looks really good. First, the color is pretty unique and goes really well w/ the LC wheels. Second, I'm really liking the "raked" look as I've struggled w/ my sagging rear (1" sag). The only thing is that once you add the weight up front, you will have a lot of rake and this may not look as good.

Great job. Are you still doing the Satoshi mod?

FUZION 03-24-2006 06:54 PM

Nice
I saw a Landcruiser with silver center caps today and i think it makes the wheels look cleaner
PAINT THOSE PUPPIES :great:

Looks good, tho i did notice a droopy left fog light.. I like it muchos! :great:

Mr. Bob 03-24-2006 07:21 PM

Thanks Guys... It is a full 1" higher in the rear, and I agree that a TJM may drop that front too much for me... I am thinking about it still... anyone make a bull bar or anything for 96-98s??? I have the emblem for the satoshi mod, but have been working on lift and all that first... Soon I will get that happening... I am REALLY liking the look of colour matching around the grill... I may have mine done to match the paint....

And yes the fog lights have looked better... I am trying to decide what to do with the front bumper before I go too crazy :)

Cheers
Bob

im not sure youll want to go with a bull bar or brush guard long term.. they hinder your approach angle and do more damage in an accident to your own vehicle than theyre worth.. perhaps look into a spacer lift to offset?

and by bull bar you mean...? TJM or ARB make steel replacement bumpers. don't waste money on a brush guard.

and if you go TJM, steve schaefer (www.sonoransteel.com) has the lowest prices.

What is the weight difference between a stock bumper and a tjm?? I really dont want to drop the front in height due to weight....

Grimace 03-24-2006 10:09 PM

Good job Bob!

You 've made me a proud father. You gotta get a color matched ARB bumper.
Whats next after this?

Dave

from what ive read on here, quite a bit. enough to make a difference...add to that a winch, then itll really be bogged down. mossy rocks had an arb and he said it weighs 150lbs...i think i read that a stock one was about 80? dont quote me on that. try the flashing yellow link on that one.

thats why ive been thinking going tube or part tube. with tube youve got a solid bar to hi-lift on if need be. i didnt see anywhere to do a front hi-lift on the tjm/arb's. i could be wrong though...

[OT]

any luck on the front setup? its a spendy swap...and junkyard parts have been hard to track down...and you yourself said 800cdn for one youve found. ive been eyeying the downey setup...its 539 w/o the warns. id like to get the aisins coz theyre stronger and oem. or just bite the bullet and get arbs. either way..its at least 1G once its all said n done.

if im not gonna go with the front lockers/hubs...im thinking i may just upgrade my body armour and go talk to taran about building me my tube half bumpers....i dunno we'll see.

[/OT]

edit: taran makes boxed bumpers for 3rd gens...we've all seen the back but i havent seen the front that he made for that silver runner. he quoted me less than a t-17 but more than a t15. i dunno, may be worth checking out and you wont have to deal with shipping & customs issues...

I think the 1" rake is perfect....that's what I wanted on mine too.
Then if you load the rear, it will ride near level.

Great work on that Bob!
