OBDII scanner and AFR
I have an 01 SRunner and in since the 01's have a WB air fuel sensor from the factory can I just log my AFR from one of the OBDII scanners?
I am looking at the DIGIMOTO http://www.digimoto.com or the autoterra http://www.auterraweb.com/index.html They both look like the log 02 readings so why would it not work if I have a factory WB02 already? Thanks, Glen |

Thanks, Glen You won't get actual A/F ratios, just a voltage I believe (you can see relative ratios though, ie way lean or way rich). |
The O2 info presented to the OBD II interface is a decimal voltage. I don't know about the Digitmoto box, but the Auterra presents the value as-is (i.e., as a decimal voltage, not as a ratio).
If you get used to tuning based on the voltage, then I think you're pretty much set. |
thanks for your responses guys. I just ordered an LM-1 from gadget so I know I will be able to tune it now without converting anything.

And... that'll work really well too. :)
I got my LM-1 last week and I'm about to order the LMA-2 ("RPM adapter") which will give me 5 channels of recordable data inputs. In my case, I'll set it up to track RPM, A/FR, EGT and MAF. There's a good amount of info on Innovate's website and in their forums. The lead programmer is on the forums a lot answering questions and such. They've got some cool new things coming... :) |
Thanks for the tips on the LM-1 I also ordered the LMA-2 so I can log other things and RPM. I have been checking out the forum over at innovate and it does have some good info on it. I was convinced on buying a zeitronix ZT-2 until I messed around with the software for the LM-1 and I must say logworks is awesome!
Good luck and happy tuning Glen |
Wow... you move fast. :)
When looking at the LMA-2, did you notice the LMA-3? The -3 is a -2 on steroids, and has things on-board like a MAP sensor, X/Y accelerometer and possibly most importantly, full differential inputs for the logging channels. I'm still trying to work out if I need the fully diff inputs, I _think_ I can get by without them... I really don't want to spend the extra $150. But one other thing about the -3 is that the firmware is updateable, and there's a revision coming. There're supposedly some "very cool" things that can be done with the A/D's in the box. And yeah, Klaus (the software dev) has done a great job with LogWorks. I figure you've pulled down the software and fired it up? Try loading up one of the two log examples that come with it, and look at the stuff you can do in the graphs. Very nice. LogWorks 2.0 is coming... There's not a lot of info about what he's done, but we should know in about a month. |
yeah I looked at the LMA-3 but I couldnt justify spending that much more money. because the only things I really need to log are MAP and EGT the Accel meter doesnt impress me to much. With the digimoto and autoterra you can do a "dyno" and 1/4 mile times and probably do them more accurately than with the Accel meter.
If they had a LMA-2.5 without the accel meter I would of bought it. |

I've played a bit with accelerometer units (like the GTech) and the repeatability seems to be a bit off. In lieu of a real dyno, I prefer to watch the math work from weight/time/distance to get to horsepower. If they had a LMA-2.5 without the accel meter I would of bought it. There's more info in the latest newsletter which just came out overnight: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/resources/news7.php |
