obd 2 code
HI
I recent got a p1300 ignition misfire. I am looking for more info. the dealer claims it is a one time code . I recently (2 weeks ago) put in a set of ngk wires and plugs . The truck runs good and the dealer cleared the code . My question is what does this realy mean and what is a very good obd 2 code reader. I have seen several people with different readers do you still like them or wish you had a different one?:xmas1: |
Your code was indicative of random mis-firing. Your new wires and plugs cured the defect. Here's what I use, and recommend.
OBDII Automotive Diagnostics / BR-3 OBDII Interface |
I have two OBDII products:
To recommend one or the other depends on what you want to be able to do. If you have a Windows based laptop and want to see what your truck can tell you about itself, then the best value by far is the OBDDiagnostics box. It will handle diagnostics codes, various ECU inputs like air flow, temp, etc, and do data logging and light graphing. If you want to determine baseline info before performance mods, then the Auterra interface is nice. But don't expect it to be as accurate as a chassis dyno. It's also pretty pricey, but can be found on eBay for a lot less than Auterra sells direct for. Again... There have been many discussions here on the forum about these. Search around for "Auterra" or "OBDiagnostics" and you should be able to find a lot of words. |
I am a bit partial but I vote for the Auterra unit.
The fact that you will need to pry mine from my cold dead hands should tell you something! |
