New product announcement. Manual control for your automatic transmission.

With the flip of a switch you can switch from your normal auto controlled by the ECU to full manual control where you control every shift and torque convertor lockup. Shifting is done through 2 momentary inputs providing countless options for shifting including pushbuttons and paddle shifting

does it keep it from doing the annoying downshifting on the highway every 5 seconds???

Absolutely. When in manual mode it will not shift until told to shift.

From my FAQ page:
Does it really give total control? When I put it in 3rd, will it go to 2nd and 1st as I slow down?
When in the manual mode, it gives FULL control. The transmission will go only to the gear you select and will remain there until you select another or go back to auto.

I wonder how this will work with superchargers?
An auto tranny will require specific work done because of the "luxury" shifting. Will this be a shortcut around that?

EDIT:
I'm also curious about reverse. Will this require shutting down the manual and reverting back to auto?
How does this affect the life of the auto transmission? How about the transmission fluid?

From his FAQ:
Do I still need the factory floor shifter?
Yes. This shifter is only electronic and has no provisions to control the manual selection of park, reverse, neutral or drive. The controller can remain on in the other positions with no harm, but only controls the transmission in the drive positions.

Id really like to do this but.. I think a kit needs to be sent to someone for free who is willing to install this for everyone else to hear about kinks and such. I do like the sound of paddle shifters.

I agree, but i still doubt i would be able to get one even tho i really want one

I'm betting that Brett's tapped into the tranny ECU. That would make for a "simple" install in that you'd just have to tap the wires to the solenoids, then insert a switch into the circuit for handling TC lockup. Past that, you'd mount the LEDs and you're set.

So... 5 wires for the LEDs; 1 wire each for UP and DOWN; 2 wires for the TC intercept; and a ground.

midiwall is pretty close. Quick splice connectors are included and a few wires are hooked up to the ECU, all this can be done in under 5 minutes with just a pair of pliers. Then it's a matter of mounting whatever shifter, switches and LEDs you have selected.
