NEW Panhard Drop Question
 

So I have read all the links about the panhard drops. Some say yes, some say no. I am looking for a simple survey of how many people have done it, who thought it was worth it, and those that don't care and wouldn't spend the money. So, let's see a show of hands now that Summer is moving right along.

I did it ....... went wheeling .... no problems.

I did not do it and have had no ill effects.

2nd Gen and 3rd Gen are completely different. 2nd Gen posts will be of no value to you.

Lets put it this way, it's not going to hurt anything, it will only help. If you have 75 bucks and know a welder, great if not, buy a new Playstation game and live with an off center rear axle.

Yeah, but that is like a car dealer telling me I need the permaplate. It is 75 Bucks, plus shipping, plus what will probably be an hours worth of welding. I mean, would you recommend your product over the front diff drop that I also had not planned on doing?

Try closer to about 5-10 minutes of welding. and that includes the prep.

I've installed the diff drop spacers, and am having my panhard bracket welded on tomorrow. If you lift a 3rd gen 4Runner much over an 1.5", you are going create an angle on the CVs that will only worsen as the amount of lift increases. The diff spacers are a no-brainer, and almost guarantee that you will extend the lifetime of your CVs.

Arguing for the panhard bracket is an argument that has been rehashed to death. I began writing a longer reply, before I realized that your question is not new at all! Use the search engine on Yotatech, and read the bajillion threads arguing about the pros and cons of the panhard drop. Then, if you truly have a new question (not likely, since every aspect has been discussed to death), get back to us.

Hey! The question was new, and you should not assume I haven't read everything. I stated in my first post that I had done the search. Now, my question wasn't about the pros or cons. IT was just a survey to find out HOW MANY people have done them. Simple.

Front diff drop is completely different as well.

If you have the cash and want your truck to be "perfect" do it. If you can live with things out of alignment, then leave it.

Who thought it was worth it, and those that don't care and wouldn't spend the money? OLD- this is the heart of every panhard brack argument that has ever transpired on yotatech.

I'm not meaning to hassle you, but I swear I see the same topics hasseled over and over and over.....Just me griping, no worries, hope your poll tells you what you were looking to find out.

besides, the diff drop is only about 30 bucks and a 10 minute install. I figure you can afford a trip to Breckinridge than 30 bucks is a drop in the bucket.

About the panhard bracket and the comment about the car salesman, Steve isn't trying to "push" his product. he is meerly trying to help you out and give a reasonable price for a product that he designed and also fabs, the price is good. Notice he also provides .pdf's with the dimensions so you can get it fabbed elsewhere if you want. I did mine with scraps at a buddies shop, in fact he was having one made so he fabbed one up free for me since I helped him out on his runner. Steve isn't in it to make money. check out the Before and After pics on his link below his sig, they are of my tires before and after the panhard bracket install. Clearly from those pics, it isn't a waste of money, unless you just never offroad to the point that you stuff the tires.

I have Steve's panhard drop on my rig and think it is well worth it. Even if you don't wheel it that hard. I just like to keep my driveline and suspension as close to the stock geometry as possible. But that is just me.

Steve - I have to go to Turkey for 2 weeks so I wont need the bumpstops until after the 15th of August.

Good, how about we shoot for Sept 1. I have sliders and a rear ARB I have to get into the FJ-62.
