new 1985 pickup

Hey guys, I'm sure some of you saw I was selling my 1993 4Runner.. it was lited, and pretty nice, but I needed to get something with a little more power and a straight axle. I just bought a 1985 toyota pickup truck with 94K original miles, 6 inches of lift, a built chevy 350 bored .60 over and much more stuff done to it. check out my new cardomain for pics and specs on it. http://www.cardomain.com/id/muchado85

BTW, I only paid $3250 for it

???

Guess I'll never understand why people buy Toyota's and then put domestic drivetrains in them. If I wanted V-8 power, lower reliability and lack of economy, I'd just buy a Ford or Chevy.
That's just me, however. Pay no attention. :chair:

Hey man I still give ya props, things nice. Get the sag outa the back though... I got the same thing now.

Also there was a letter to the editor thingy about the whole domestic drivetrain thing in Petersen's 4WD a few months ago. I kinda agree to a point but the man wanted more power, and what'd he get... More power.

ive been thinking about putting a 350 in my 4runner, american power and um.... japanese looks? capability?

muchado 08-05-2004 02:44 PM

the toyota platform is an awesome vehicle to build on, I understand the whole thing where people don't like the sound of putting a domestic motor in a Toyota... as far as I'm concerned, the 350 is a great motor, very very powerful, and with the toyota drivetrain/suspension setup, it's a great combo.. that's just my opinion though. I love my truck the way it's got power... sure it eats up that premium fuel, but it gets almost as good as i was getting in my 3.0L 4Runner... with over twice the amount of HP. Well worth the sacrifice IMO... thanks for the comments guys.. anyone have a ARB bumper they would like to sell?

awsome truck. is the motor wieght significant? (does handle diffrent with new heavy motor up front?)

muchado 08-05-2004 10:15 PM

I dont know how the motor handles differently or not.... I am sure it plays a role. I just tried flexing it out on a mound of dirt.. wasnt too impressed with the flex. I definetly will try to get some softer springs, these are for 3 inches of lift, so I might get some 4 inch springs from marlin crawler.. we will see. the power is insane.. but so is the mileage.. it's suckin gas up like no other....

I dont think I'll be able to make it to tuttle creek this weekend. I dont know how good it'll wheel right now. I am getting ready to move back to Hays from Overland Park because school is starting soon. I will be at Tuttle Creek over Labor Day weekend for sure tho, we should get a bunch of the kansas people together... I am on this board, but mainly on pavementsucks.com and I'm gonna try and get some people together for labor day.. that's only a month away!! I'm just really really busy right now gettin ready for school, so I want to hold off on the wheelin... I cant believe I actually said that, but now that the truck shuffling is done, I need to get down to buisness getting stuff packed for school and spending those last days with my buds..
