New '03 Taco V6 whining noise
I just upgraded my tacoma from a 2001 4 cylinder to a 2003 V6. I have noticed a whining noise coming from the engine compartment when I am driving in gear. It only makes the noise when I'm moving in gear, it disappears when I put the clutch in. It sounds like the whining noise of gears spinning. There's no grinding or anything. It is most noticable at about 25 mph while driving in 2nd gear, or 35 mph in 3rd. Basically when the engine is at around 2500 rpm. If I had to guess, it sounds like the front differential, like my hubs are locked in or something. I don't know alot about what goes on with the driving components up there. Is this a normal operating noise for the V6? My old 4 banger did not make this whining noise. Thanks.
