Need help with O2 ID
I bought an O2 off ebay and I'm not sure I got the correct item.
I bought what I thought was a Denso 234-4153 for a 99 toyota 4wd, 5pd, cal spec 4runner. What i received was marked with Toyota 89465-14190 Denso 5192. I called Toyota and they didn't even have this number in their database. I tried the cross reference feature on www.densoaftermarket.com and it doesn't recognize 89465-14190, but denso 5192 comes up with everything but 234-4153. Can anyone help me ID this O2 sensor? Thanks |
Are those numbers stamped on the sensor body? How about a close-up photo of the markings on it?

Yes, stamped on the body. I won't be able to get a pic until next week.

In my experience, the numbers on the sensor are useless. Was it in a box?
In any case, that's the rear sensor and they are all pretty much the same except for wire length. If it fits, says Denso, and the wire length and plug are correct, odds are it's the right sensor. |
No box. It is supposed to be for a 99 SR5 5spd 4x4, cal spec 4runner, and there are different part numbers for different vehicles. Is the only difference the length of the pigtail and connector in most cases?

All the rest, I believe, both front and back, are listed to accept the 234-4206 Universal sensor (that comes with no plug attached--you splice it to your existing wire.) This includes the rear sensors on the Cali.'s that are NOT screw mounts. All the various models made with plug that can be substituted by the SAME universal sensor obviously differ ONLY in wire length and plug, although I believe the O2 plugs are all the same and the A/F's plugs are all the same, but different from each other, I just can't prove it. I do know the A/F's and O2's are different for a fact. This is why the number on the sensor body has nothing to do with anything, because when it is made it could end up anywhere, if you know what I mean. Go here and see for yourself. |
