My fuel pressure regulator doesn't work ?????
I put a fuel pressure gauge on my rail, the hose is long enough to face the gauge at me through the windshield. Starting/cranking and driving at all throttle positions only produced 43 - 45 psi. WTF. Anyone have this happen to them?
It idles perfect so I think the vacuum hose to the FPR is fine. But I do only get 18 mpg on highway now. Used to get 22 mpg before. Most likely the result of high pressure at all times. |
I found a used FPR on ebay. Will try to change it tonight but it doesn't look like an easy job. Almost looks like the intake manifold has to come off???

What engine?? I have a 3.4 and it is on the back.. taking the Plenum off will give you more room but no more than that should be needed!! New plenum gaskets are good to do...

yeeeaaaahhh. So I tried this morning. The bolts are barely accessible. They can come off with a fight. BUT, the engine harness has this big plastic case that pretty much wraps around the fpr. There's no pushing it out of the way really. I'm gonna take a weekend this summer to do the timing belt. Guess I'll go further and remove the intake assembly at the same time.:drunk:
