my 03 4runner had an evap leak P0442

Just wanted to let ya know that my 4runner just had a small evap leak problem. Code P0442.

I know this is an isolated problem but I just wanted to give ya guys a heads up for those who might experience the same problem (hope not).

Symptom:
Check Engine Light

OBDII Code: P0442
Error Code: Evap Leak (small)
Problem: Leak found in intake plenum area for the fuel. Not sure exactly where as they were vague on their description over the phone. When the part comes in, I'll have the part number so I'll know exactly what the problem was. I recall them telling me some valve problem... not sure... blah...

Like I said, this is probably an isolated problem and figure most everyone will not experience this. If ya do, atleast you have a general idea what the problem can be...

Any chance something was knicked during the compressor install? Also, dealers enter their stock orders and receive delivery on a weekly basis. Depending on when your dealer ordered the part, and when they can schedule you in for repair, it might not be fixed next week. That could mean the possibility of off-road dust inhaled through the intake plenum leak during your Sunday run. If so, ask the dealer to order the part CRITICAL status. That'll get it overnight.

Actually i've had this problem for about 2 wks now, even before the compressor install.

I have thought about the possibility of contamination but from what the stealer has told me that will not be an issue. They told me if that was the case, they would not release the vehicle. I guess then I'd get a rental from them or something... but anyway from what I've learned, it's a sender unit or something so i'm guessing its a sensor that's prob bad or something...

ehe whatever... thanks for the concern! :)
