Is this model tacoma reliable? Pics inside
So Im getting ready to purchase a 2002 Toyota Tacoma single cab, auto.
Mileage is at 103k. Its a 2.4 liter engine (NOT the 2.7).He's Asking 4k(USD). Located in TX
Is this particular engine pretty sound an reliable.
I dont know much about tacoma's. I was wondering if there was a particular model that was not as reliable as others.
Someone please help.
Im about to purchase it in a little while.

Yes, this year is reliable, most people would want to find one with the 3.4 litre v6 but the 4cyl is very reliable. I'm assuming this is 2wd because 1998 4WD Tacomas were not available with the 2.4 litre 4cyl?

It could have either. SR5 probly had buckets. The lower model will probly have bench with 3 seatbelts.
Since thats the 2.4 and a lower model I would guess it has the bench.

4000 sounds like a good deal. I'd do your research on the specific truck,...that is check the CarFax report (FWIW), check all the fluids for abnormal goo, make sure the frame is strait, and make sure the body panels have the correct VIN plates on them. If all of the above check out, I don't see how you could wrong for $4000.

yeah all of the RZ family are pretty reliable motors. yours is the 2RZ not the 22RE for anybody with confusion. still a good motor, shouldn't have any problems powering that light little truck

2.7 has 150 hp at 4100 IIRC, if its a 5 speed you can wind her up, and seeing as how its a single cab truck, it'll be quicker then say a 4runner with a similar setup...

This came up on google when I searched for "Fast Truck". When you think 4 banger Toyota, think the opposite of the above.
If you're hauling a heavy load, or doing a lot of driving over mountain passes you'll wish you had more power. Other than those conditions, I don't see why you'd need more.
