Looking for some engine swap info. 1999 3.4 into a 2001 4runner
I have a 2001 4runner that has 162k miles that slung a rod, after doing some searching I've found that a 01-02 engine is a direct swap. However after doing more looking I've found 99-00 engines for near half the cost. My local scrap yard guy said his notes say that the exhaust manifolds need to be swaped over along with there could be a difference in dipstick tubes.
I'm totally ok with that work as it's no big deal, I was wondering if anyone here has actually done the swap if there's any sensor differences etc that have to be changed.
I found two threads with a little info after running a few searches, but nothing for sure.

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advanced.

Not 100% sure, it's my Mothers truck. She was complaining of it shaking on the interstate, turns out it was misfiring.
The front o2 sensor was dead, i replaced that along with doing a tune up etc a few of the plugs were chalky white along with the o2 sensor like the truck had been running very lean. I hung on to the truck for two more days making sure everything was fine, however on my way to switch car's back with her the engine let go merging on the interstate at 3500rpm. I imagine the truck was spark knocking for a while with the front o2 dead, but it's all speculation.
