locking dif
i'm a first time yota owner i bought a 96 tacoma 4x4 my question is, how do i know if it has a locking rearend ?

Factory switch on the dash. If not doubt aftermarket.

Factory TRD rear lockers didnt come out until 1998, anyhow.
To check for an aftermarket, search for the tire-spin method. Or drop out the rear differential. |
And wiring/motor on the rear diff are a sign there's a diff locker there.

If it's selectable then it has to have some kind of switch. It might be a ratcheting one. If it is you might be able to hear it if you turn really slow on pavement. |
