I've done some homework, so where to buy lift parts?
 

I only want a 2" lift. Anything more than that just looks a bit off with 265/75 tires IMO.

From research I've found that Tundra TRD coils for the front and OME 906 springs for the rear will give me what I want if I use 5100s and put the springs on the lowest perch in the front.

I contacted Sonoran Steel to see if he'd put together a 2" lift kit for me with the Tundra TRD Coils and 5100s in front and 906s and 5100s in the rear and he just e-mailed me back and said all he offers is the 7.2 which is 3" in the front and 3.5" in the rear...too high for me.

Are there any other vendors I should look to for the full setup or just start piecing it together from the dealer and others?

I'm assuming theses are the Tundra springs I need and that the Tundra springs work with the 4Runner top plates?

I found these springs online from a Toyota Dealer for $124 per spring but would rather support a vendor here if you guys know of one. I found a set for $150 in the junkyard with 112K on them, but to me $150 is too high for used springs when new ones are only $100 more.

I see Wheeler's now has these rear 5100s that look to be setup specifically for the 3rd Gen 4Runner so I can get the 5100s all the way around and 906s from them, but would prefer one stop shopping with a forum vendor if you guys know of any.

I'm sure you have already looked at these guys, and the price is probably a little high but Toytec's ultimate lift has the option for OME 906's in rear, Bilstein 5100/5125, and the front is adjustable between 0-3.5". So 2 inches is do-able.

Yep, I've checked them out. Just trying to stay with Toyota parts where applicable with the TRD Tundra Coil setup.

Wheeler's Off-Road carry the coils and the shocks that you're looking for, front & rear. But I don't know if they're a vendor here in YT

i read in another thread here in YT that the tundra coils will use the 4Runner top plate but will need the tundra rubber isolator. Wheeler's sells the monroe brand isolator.

Cool, I'll call them. Didn't see the TRD Tundra coils on their site.

Someone on T4 just posted they used the Bilstein 5100s with the stock coils in the front and on the 4th perch got exactly 2" of lift. I didn't even think of that as a solution for some reason, but would save a few bucks on having to buy TRD Tundra coils.

the 4th perch from the bottom or from the top? I wouldn't go above the 3rd perch (middle) from the bottom as that could overstress the shocks by limiting the travel.

the tundra coils have been shown to provide 2" to 2.5" of lift using the tokico trekmasters shocks. so if you're looking for 2" lift, you might like to try the bottom perch first

I've asked the guy if he was on the 4th perch from the bottom or the top. He claims it rides great.

if the top plates are not rusted, then it should be ok. but i'm not sure if Wheeler's will sell the Tundra oem isolators, if they have them, without the top plate because Toyota does not. The top plate and the isolator are considered an assembly with only one part number 48609-0C021.

Ok, I must be missing something on the parts list. I thought my 4Runner isolators AND top plates would work with the Tundra springs.

The guy running the stock coils on the 5100s says he's on the 4th perch from the bottom. That's higher than most I've seen, but if these struts have 5 perches, would they have included that many if all couldn't be used?

A word of caution:
please ensure that the perch is installed correctly. There have been instances wherein the perch was installed improperly and the c-clip holding the perch failed.

well, theoretically, the 4Runner isolator can be used. but from the thread that i read, the recommended one is to use the tundra isolator because the molding matches exactly with the inside diameter of the coil spring.

on the number of perches: that would depend on the length and spring rate of the coils used.

i have doubts if the guy is saying he got 2" of lift and he's using the 4th perch from the bottom. he must have a very heavy winch bumper and other things up front. Sonoran Steel has it at either the second or third perch, depending on the buyer's preference

Well, that's what he's saying. Here's a picture he posted. Stock 01' 4Runner front coil is what he says he used.

I hear ya on being careful with the spring perch.

Ok, so he's using the stock 4Runner coils, not the TRD Tundra coils. The coil wire on the stock 4Runner coil is thinner than those of the TRD Tundra coil that's why he only has a 2" lift. also, the coils are old ones and have shortened already.

sorry, i didn't properly read your previous post mentioning the stock coils. i was thinking of the trd tundra coils

If I just go to an online dealer and order the following p/ns am I sure to get the y/y and b/y Tundra TRD Springs?

Thanks, ordering them up today. What threw me off is that these springs show up for a wide variety of Tundras from 2WD V6 to 4WD Double Cab in the online parts catalogs I've seen.

Ok ordered up the TRD Tundra coils. I'll get the rest from Wheeler's since they have everything I need.

Do I need diff drop spacers with this setup?

Well, did a lot of reading and decided to skip the diff drop and only add it if I have problems with the CV boots. Everything is ordered and on the way. It should only be 2" of lift and most said that was fine on the CVs.

2" should be fine with the CVs, but that's the recommended limit before needing a diff drop
