Installed my 3" rb 2nd gen body lift this weekend. (b4 and after pics)
 

All in all, it went fairly easy. There were a few snags though.

First, we all know that with a 3" body lift the stock airbox plumbing dosent line up correctly. Mine also had several very large cracks in the rubber elbows compounding the problem. a call to summit racing, and my FIPK kit is on the way. In the mean time, a trip to home depot, some pvc, silicone, and some electrical tape has me hooked up. :hillbill:

Second, the transfer case shifter bracket(auto trans truck) was just about an inch too short to git-er-done, but Roger said he will send me a longer one.

Third, I must have pulled a wire loose somewhere, because my rear ABS light is now on, and I cant seem to find it yet. :(

I have a set of 33's, but I'm holding out for some decent wheels before I mount em' up. :guitar:

but they're only 15x7's, so I'm not sure if I will mount them up and run em' for a while, or wait until I get some wider wheels more to my liking. :dunno:

Wow that looks good, I like how there is no gaps anywhere from what i can see on the outside.

actually, you can see some gaps. you can see the exhaust mainfolds, torsion bars, ect, but it's not that bad.

I'm toying around with the idea of making some covers out of a 3 month old bed mat, from a Dodge Ram that was returned under the lemon law.

I went ahead and mounted my 33's on those skinny wheels. It looks ok for now, but wider wheels are on my list.

Here's what I did to my air intake tube to fix the body lift problem. Stock airbox (silencers removed) with K&N drop in filter, a section of downtube from an 02' duramax diesel, and a couple sections of 3" I.D radiator hose from napa.

Yeah, it's been a while since ive had to step up into a vehicle, but i've had several trucks that if you miss a step on the way down, you're on your way to the hospital, so this is minor. :bigok:

Looks great, how did you raise the bumpers, as they are attatched to the frame, not the body. Or at least thats how it is on 3rd gen, when you get a bl, theres a gap between the bumper and body.

the kit came with brackets to raise the front bumper, and the rear bumper mounts to the body, so it comes up automatically.

cool, im thinking of getting a 3 inch sus lift, and a 2 inch body lift, or something like that, just not sure what exactly to get yet. have to read up on it more

do you have more info on that mod... its something i have been thinking aobut doing but i am not sure of what i need to do... does it make it louder or anything? i assume its has more air flow, so a little more HP and better mpg?

Body lift looks good. Your intake looks a lot like mine--but mine is tube and boots from the new Ford Powerstroke..

Tofur--if you are interested I have another section of tube cut that will fit your truck--you will just need the boots. I will give you a good deal.

Marc, I would be interested in the tube if Tofur is not interested.

I put a K&N filter in while I had it apart. It is a little louder, but not much. I didnt notice any gain in power or economy, but i also went from 31's to 33's at the same time. I will say that I didnt notice a decrease in power either with the bigger tires, even when pulling the boat.

the auto tranny, 33's and 4.10's arent the best combo though. I'm gonna regear, but im waiting for a buddy to pull the solid axle from under his taco. if i can get it from him, im going with 5.29's because thats what that front has.

From under his Taco? Do you mean older pickup? The SAS would defintely be sweet. Runner looks good with the BL. BLs aren;t my thing, but it looks pretty good on your rig. :bigok:

nope, taco. he has a sweet looking 98 tacoma that he SAS'ed a while back. It's rolling on TSL 42's, and he keeps breaking rear ends and stuff. he is going to run full width full size running gear, and i have dibs on his front end:)

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but aren't Tacomas driver-side diff? Our trucks are passenger-side...

sure are. the truck originally had a whiplash 10" ifs kit on it, which required him to cut a bunch of the original brackets off. the kit broke, and whiplash wouldnt stand behind it, so he had no choice but to either SAS it, or buy a new frame. his original plan was to buy an adaptor and run an older toy case, but the truck has been spitting out rear ends like crazy with the 42's. he's sticking a ford front in it instead, and probably a 14 bolt rear.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/3car/taco42.jpg
