How do I do the Deck Plate Mod on a 2.4?

Just like the subject asks...The airbox has ripples on it so it seems "impossible" to do, unless I put a SUBSTANTIAL amount of sealant...sorry sensor-safe sealant... around the flange.

Also, would just disconnecting and removing the elbow that goes into the fender be worth it? Upon further inspection, it seems that the pipe extends into the box about 3 inches. I can't look into where it connects in the fender so I can't see if it is getting as much air as it would without that elbow.

Thanks in advance,

One more quick question...Will adding a flowmaster muffler make my 2.4 sound like a Folgers Coffee can civic? I hear of some people doing it with the 2.7, but haven't heard of much with the 2.4.

Keep in mind, I used to drive a '01 straight piped, no cats (oops, where'd they go?) Z-28. I really, really don't want that rice crap sound.

deckplate works fine

The deckplate will be fine on your airbox. It does take some more sealant, but it is not as much as you think. Besides, if the hole is cut well your main seal will be around the hole and not inbetween the ridges. Check the link in my sig, or this post that I did when I was really excited about just finishing it on my 2.7L. There are some pics in there. Have fun!

Hey Barry, are you talking about the 22re 2.4 motor or the newer 2.4 motor?

Todd, we're talking about the newer one...it's a '03 2wd. Another quick question...does cornfed's lifts work on my truck?
