Your Kidding right ?

math isn't so good right now.... Been drink beers. But isnt the 22RE around 2400CC ????? That adds up to allot more than 95 HP

jimbo74 10-22-2004 09:56 PM

more cc does not necessarily mean more hp......

case in point: the ford explorer v8 is a 302 ci displacement (5000cc), it does not have as much hp as the ford mustang v8 also with a 302 (5000cc)

Chapman88SR5 10-22-2004 09:58 PM

man what a hot rod i (we) drive!

jimbo74 10-22-2004 10:06 PM

if you actually think about it, power to weight ratio isnt that bad, about equal to that of a standard musclecar....

sweet and i just did the deck plate mod so im set! :D

slammdrider 10-22-2004 10:45 PM

so if i go from 100 to anywhere from 135 to 150 horsepower that would be a good boost in horsepower for the engine right

jimbo74 10-22-2004 10:53 PM

yes, that is 17-50% more hp... but how are you getting that much? it isnt something that adding a tornado to your truck is going to do.... it will give mroe power, but the menas you are using to get there may or may not be good... like this... say i have a 100 hp engine... well on this stock engine, i run a 100 shot of n2o anywyas, that engine cant handle it, and although its going to try, im going to blow the heck out of it.....

slammdrider 10-22-2004 11:01 PM

no im replacing the cam, the push rods, the rockers and adding a 2 inch exhaust all the way back. that will get me about 135 to 140 and then i might add a downey intake system and a new set or performance headers and that should get me over the 150 mark i hope.

I thoght the 22re had 116hp and the 3.0 had 140. Is there a diference between the newer ones and the older?

22r/re's don't have push rods, the rocker arms ride right on the cam

In later years the 22RE hp was increased to 116 or so. Don't know exactly when but I think around 1990 or so.

As stated before, hp and volume are not necessarily directly rated. My old 429 (7.0 liter) was rated a mere 202hp (as was the 460 of the same year), which is pathetically low compared to what smaller engines are putting out now days. It has much more to do with air/fuel delivery, combustion chamber size and shape, etc. than just displacement.

95 hp or 115 hp lol what a joke my quad makes around 70 AT THE WHEELS. LOL. What they need is a 2-stroke motor in them!

slammdrider 10-23-2004 10:12 AM

thanks for the info on the push rods. im found something else im going to add im going to add a msd electronic ignition. i found an old man with the same year truck and model that add a new cam and rockers and 2 inch exhaust with the electronic igniton and he now has 140 horse power at the wheels he says he can smoke the tires in 1st gear and still burn them a little in 2nd gear.

140hp with those mods and burning rubber? My guess is tires aren't the only thing he is smoking. More likely, he took the numbers offered by various aftermarket component manufacturers and kept adding them on top of each other.
I have a 22re built by LCEngineering that has 94mm pistons, porting and polishing on the head, oversized valves, performance cam, big bore throttle body, balanced, blueprinted, the whole nine yards all hooked up to headers, 2.25" exhaust, and managed by a jet chip ECU upgrade and I bet I am still on the shy side of 140hp.
If you really want to pony up, stick a 7mgte in there and really impress the neighbor kids on their tricycles.
