Help, need picture(s) of 97 3.4 intake track for ISR write-up
I will be doing a full write-up on the 96 - 97(I think) 3.4 ISR mod this weekend. However, I need to make sure the 97 Intake track is the same as my 96. I know in 98 they changed it to 2 intake silencers from 3, but I dont know about 97.
On my 96 3.4, there are 3. One really small opening, one medium (J-pipe) opening, and one large (containing the FPR line and PS line attachments).
Help if you can. I will have all part numbers and instructions in the write-up. Thanks guys.

The 97 has 3. One on each side and a "J" tube underneath. The only hose attachments are two hoses connected to the right side silencer. When I did the mod, I used a T fitting to connect both hoses to a single outlet on the plug I made (used a plumbing cap with a single threaded port for a barbed fitting). I'd take a picture, but I'm at work and the 4Runner's at home.

Keep things the way they are as long as it works for you. Dont mind me, I am just babbling. But, I will let you know if I find any solid evidence. Thanks!

Also my vacuum line fittings did NOT match what the writeups said. 96runner, please send me your article before you publish it here, if my fittings are still different I will let you know in case you want to add that in (I can take pics or whatever). I wound up changing my lines around from what the instructions said (still going off the fitting on the intake plenum, not anything added to the hose)...

Uh... Isn't Page 2 of the ISR Article that I wrote clear enough already? The 96-97 intakes are the same. In 98 they added Electric Idle Up and did away with the Vacuum Idle Up, which is why some people have TWO hoses going to the PSP on the earlier trucks.
I covered all of this in the article... I also stated that it was necessary to read Page 1 to fully understand Page 2.
HOWEVER, some people have 2WD vehicles, which changes things regarding Vacuum fittings and then in 2001, they changed the 4WD System and the Vacuum setup changed yet again.
I didn't write the article to be the end-all-be-all, give every little detail, provide all the answers, article. I wrote it from the standpoint that the person(s) reading it would have been under a hood of a vehicle a time or two and had turned a few wrenches in their life.
Good luck on tracking down every little change and difference.
