Help..... Misfire on #6 cylinder code P0306
So I'm on the freeway driving home from work and I feel something and then my CEL turns on and starts to blink. I goes solid, then starts to blink for a few more seconds, then goes solid. pull off at the next off-ramp and as I'm pulling into a parking lot, It is running like crap. I start to slow down and it starts lurching forward as I'm slowly pulling into a spot, then with the brakes on and at a complete stop, the thing is shaking. I check the engine bay to see if anything visable has happened, but nothing looks out of place. I decide to try to get to an Autozone and have them run the code on a OBD II. I get there and it pulls up a "#6 cylinder misfire has been detected" and P0306 as the code. I then spent the next little while changing the Ignition coils, wires, plugs, anything I could think of. One of the guys at Autozone thinks I have a bad cylinder, another thinks it's a fuel pressure/fuel pump issue. It's at the shop overnight for a compression test tommorow.
Anybody else has any thoughts on what might be going on? As always, thanks guys- |
I got the same code..kinda. I had #3 missing.
I changed the wires and everything was ok. Have u rest the CEL? Just pop the negative cable of the battery off. If its still on, compression check? Sorry for the lack of advice |
You can do a compression test, but more than likely it would be a bad wire, plug or ignition coil.
Swap coils and see if it moves.....if not change the plugs and wires. |
