Help!!! Bilstein or Edelbrock
Hello,
Everyone I can't decide between the Bilstein or Edelbrock shocks. I want to keep my nice everyday ride, and still be able to go off-road. I have a 95 Runner, help please. Thanks:dunno: |
There are people on here with both so I am sure you will get alot of opinions. I am going to go with the Bilsteins because I have TRD decals on my Runner and need to justify them..:D Good luck with your decision!

I am very happy with Bilstein.
The truck has a firm controlled ride which is what I like. It does not wallow anymore and it feels like the tires spend more time on the road/track. The ride is firm but comfortable..to me, as I had 50k on my truck, it feels much MORE comfortable. David |
What about Rancho
Just curious...
I see a lot of 4Runner owners using Rancho 9000s. How come no one here uses them? Any opinions on Rancho over Bilstein or Edelbrock? Warren |
I have the Edel's on my rig.
I put them on October of '99, and they are still like new. They are one of the more expensive shocks ($80 each) but well worth it IMO. Rancho's? I have had bad luck with them. Went through two sets of 5000's on my '90 truck I had. |

Yeah. I've already ordered a pair of 9009s for my rear to go with the Downey HD coils. Should be in Friday or Monday.
I'll let you know how they ride. Warren |
Well I've never tried the Edelbrocks so I can't comment on them but I went from the Tokicos to Bilsteins and I like them. The BF Goodrich AT 265/75R16's I put on feel heavier and clunkier than the properly-sized Bridgestone Dueler AT 265/70R16's, so I'm glad I changed over to Bilsteins. They rebound better, the ride is quite a bit more stable & doesn't drive with a 'floating' feeling.
I'm still on vacation right now and drove the 4Runner through Alberta and B.C. and up through windy mountain highways. The Bilsteins allow me to keep up quite well with the other vehicles, whereas the old shocks leaned and bounced to much to take any turns too quickly. |
