headlight alignment/aiming 2000
i have noticed that my driver's side headlight appears brighter than the other, and i think it's a simple alignment/aim problem. i have searched the threads for instruction on how to check/adjust the alignment but can't quite find what i need and i don't want to screw anything up. does anyone have pics of what to look for or good descriptive instruction? i'm hoping this isn't hard to do, but i want to do it right. i did find where, on a 99, there are some white gear looking screws that a philips screw will fit, but not sure if this is same on mine, and even where these screws are. any help appreciated. until fixed, i'm picking off snipers and owls in trees with my front drivers side bulb!

Those white screws/bolts are the adjustment, there is one for up/down and one for right/left on each bulb. If I remember correctly I used a 10mm ratcheting box end (gearwrench style) to adjust mine.
[edit] guess i need to type faster. |
thanks guys. will i need to take the battery out to get to these white screws! i gave it a look and it looks like close quarters in there...

[edit] guess i need to type faster. Actualy, in plain english: On a level surface, park 25' back from a wall/garage door. Measure from the ground up to the little tiny "dot" in the middle of your headlight. This is called the "axis" which is direct center. Take that measurement and mark it on the wall. Now...measure down 2" and that's where your beam should be aimed. Also measure between the axis points on both headlights and this will determine if they are correctly left and right of each other. The link I provided is a bit more scientific. |
