going to be purchasing a wheel/tire package for a 1999 4x4 this week. what would you go with for wheel size? any reason to go with 16" wheels other than 15" not fitting on the newer models? what year did toyota switch to bigger brakes not allowing a 15" wheel?

it depends on what you have on there right now from the factory, if you have 16's now, that is your only choice. 15's will most likely NOT fit if you have the big brakes. but if you have 15's stock from the factory then i would say stick with them, i like the look of smaller wheels and bigger tires, plus tires are cheaper for 15's like Brian said.

If you had 16s stock, chances are only 16's will bolt back up. On 4x Runners I know that the brakes are substantially larger than the 2x and will only allow a 16 inch wheel to clear the brakes.
