Getting more power from a 2.7

Anyone got any ideas how i can get the most power from my 2.7? Its a 2000 tacoma 2wd. It has a K&N intake system on it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

If you have the coin, they do make a SuperCharger for the 2.7L. It's some dough, though, once you factor in all the fuel mods needed to really make it worth it...

Where do you want the power.A header and exhaust will help at speed but not that much for low end.I had a 97 4x4 2.7 auto.Put northwest off road header on it with a borla 2 1/4 exhaust on it.Also K and N filter and it felt like it hurt low end power. It sure wasnt that much of an improvement for what it cost!Just becareful of all the junk they got out there. Most of it dosent do anything but take your money. The helix throttle spacer for one it aint worth the aluminum its made out of.If it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Go w/ LC Engineering. They have many good products and knowledge from racing that will help. They are about to come out with flywheels at different weights.

Someone suggested a cam, but remember u have two cams and not a lot of choices, so they are expensive. U could get cam gears and advance timing to get more low end.

Stay away from Northwest, they lie about products and have terrible service and reputation.

I have bought from LCE for almost ten years and they have always been great!!!

LC Header and call it good. That was the only thing I did that actually did anything.

I have the LCE headers, they are top quality. i also put an electric fan on, which did a little bit for throttle response/low end power. not to mention keeping the ac colder in city driving. the only other mod that i've done was to remove the elbow from the air intake inside the fender. after that mod, i went back to napa paper filters (from k&n), since the engine seems to breath all it wants to at this point.

my bud in socal has a blower for me, i will probably beef the tail pipe out a notch when i add that item, just to keep the in-out flow balanced. no performance exhaust is planned, i am hoping to achieve the necessary flows without much additional sound.

all that said, its still a four banger. i think with the header/elbow-job/e-fan, i got everything i needed in terms of small truck power. its not a race truck, just an incredibly reliable all-around truck with decent low end twist and more power than i really need for 90% of my requirements. my 02! good luck- bk
