Gauge needles question.

Ok, I ordered some indiglow gauges for my 99 and when installing them, like an idiot, spaced it and took off the needles, took out the old black gauges, and installed the new ones instead of just puting them on top of the old ones and noww my speedo is off, my temp needle is all the way up and so is the fuel needle. Is there a procedure to take them off and put them on right?

First thing to do is check for rubbage between the needles and the aftermarket gauge faces. This does happen - usually more often toward the right and left periphery rather than the center.

Once you've eliminated any rubbing issues, it's pretty much a matter of experimentation to try and re-align the needles. The temp needle isn't so bad - just reinstall the needle at the 'bottom / cold' position when the vehicle's stone cold. The fuel gauge is trickier - you'll need to install the needle in an approximately-accurate position when you know the tank is either totally full or near-empty.

Enola is exactly right, only put the needles on so that they are barely on. I just did this to my tacoma and you will need to play with the tac gauge and the speedometer. If you can, follow a buddy when driving with your dash open and use your buddy as a reference when following to accuratly redo the speed gauge needle. I would wait for your ride to get warmed up and then set the temp gauge in the middle, its much harder to guess the location of the temp needle when its cold. Good luck!
