Gas Pedal on 04 Taco needs adjustment

Before I run to the dealer with my wife's Prerunner, I need to know if anyone knows how to adjust the throttle on the 3.4L engine. Specifically, when you step on the gas pedal it tends to rev the engine too much or another way to put it, the pedal is just too hot. How can I back it off so that the engine will slowly rev up as you step on the pedal?

Manual or Auto?

I believe the Auto is drive by wire and thus would need to be adjusted via the ECU.

I manual is drive by cable and should be easy, but I don't know the procedure, sorry.
