Fuel tank leak on 96 Tacoma
Hello everyone,
I need some help. I just picked up a Tacoma this weekend (96 2.7l 4x4 5spd) and everything seemed fine. I went out to get some lunch today and noticed that it is leaking fuel around the connection point between the filler neck and the tank. It looks as though the filler neck is bolted to the tank.
Is there a gasket in there that needs to be replaced? It is a steady drip with about 3-4 seconds between drips. With gas being pricey I hate to see it wasted like this. Is this something someone with good mechanical aptitude can handle?
Any help would be great, thanks!

There looks to be a gasket where the fuel pump bracket meets the tank

I think thats the location your referring too.
To get to the tank you can either pull the bed or drop the tank.
Both can be done as long as your brain is larger than that of a pigeons.
Bookmark this FSM and use it religiously.

Or you can download the FSM for your 96 on this page

Good luck

Wow thanks a lot for the FSM link. This is my first Tacoma I just picked it up this weeked so having that information is going to be very helpful.
I ordered the gasket from the local Toyota dealership it should be in tomorrow so we will see how it goes.
