Fuel leak=vacation bummer. If you smell gas but can't find the leak...
Hey, I was up by Alpena Mi, last week and had a hell of fuel leak problem. I had been faintly smelling fuel for weeks but could not find a leak despite crawling all over the truck (91 runner) with a flash light several times. Figured it was a faulty cap or vent. Then on Saturday when I arrived it started spraying, misting and vaporizing all over the bottom of the truck. Like pouring it out of a bucket amounts of gas. Dropped the tank and found the fuel pickup assembly was rotted. Fuel pump swaps over to the new pickup and re-installs in the top of the tank. Had to wait for parts and that cut daddies fun time into one day of off-roading.
So, if you smell fuel and can't find a leak, check the fuel pickup and /or sending unit on top of the tank.

You think thats bad you should see under my Concorde. I noticed tons of rust after changing out the rear struts. Nothing more enjoyable then living in the saltbelt.
