Front Splash Guards For 2002 SR5

Ok. The SR5 flares are now on BUT because I don't have running boards, the front ones look incomplete. They only come down so far and then end. The stock front mud guards that I previously had on don't fit with the fender flares. Does Toyota have a pair of front splash guards that will fit my 2002 SR5? Again, the stock mud guards don't fit anymore with the flares and I'm trying to see what my options are. I'd rather not have to put on running boards but will if I have to. The front flares just don't look right without front guards on there. Anyone else ever run into this problem??? :help:

What kind of SR5 flares are you talking about? Did you install the black textured flare or a painted (limited style) flare?

The black textured flare (the flare on mine) does have a mudflap that you can buy through Toyota, but they are expensive. Call TOR (member on the board) for the price.

I am not sure if they make a mudflap for the painted style flare.

I installed the black textured ones, not the limited ones. Are the front splash guards your referring to a Toyota part?

Go to your dealership, tell them you want the front mudflaps/splashguards for the black matte OEM fender flares because you took off your running boards. They will know exactly what you are talking about and they should be able to find them. Mine cost about $40.

Look at the pics here to see if this is what you got and want, just to make sure.

Hope this helps!

on a related note, are there front mud flaps available for the limited style flare?

Brian,
Looks like the ones I'm looking for. Thanks!! How come it's so hard to find the info on-line? Do you know?

Too many off topic threads with bad names and so much other junk thrown in that you get all kinds of crap on a search that is no good.

Hope that info helps you out. Your parts Toyo dealer should know exactly what you are talking about, if all else fails, make him come out and look at you rig.

Of those three pics, the one that showed just the flaps was for the rear ones as the front ones don't have that big piece on the side that extends up that far, but you can see them attached in one of the other pics. I just sold all mine to someone on here for a good price, for them that is.

Glad to help!

That's just my luck. A day late and a dollar short. Anyway, thanks again for the info. I'm a lot more calm now. I was pissed that the flares looked so incomplete in the front. I'll be swinging by the local dealership to inquire further. You have any pics of your flares and flaps on your 4Runner?

Sorry, no pics.

I do however have the gasket material to do Jalaber's mod as written up on yotatech:

http://www.top4runners.com/ja/additions2.html#flaretrim

I would recommend the mod as underneath my fender flares the paint was looked like :barf:

You can look at what I have to sell at:

Let me know if you are interested. I got a post about it in the for sale section on yotatech.

Check my page for pics and part #'s. $15 each from Conicelli. www.partznet.com

Yes, do the flare trim mod before the paint gets ruined.

The Bushwackers came with the rubber gasket. All I need are those front splash guards. I'll post pics once completed. So far, so good. Looks like a stock SR5. I appreciate all the replies.

jalaber Oct 2, 2003 11:01 AM

You have Bushes or factory SR5's? I know the guards I posted are specifically shaped to natch up with the factory SR5 flares. Not sure at all about weather they will exactly mate up with the Bushwacker flares. In fact I'd prolly say they wont mate up. Try to meet up with someone who can let you do a test fit before buying if you have the Bushes.

Matt Oct 2, 2003 11:29 AM

Jalaber,
They're not the popular Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender Flares (like the Limited ones). They're fairly new and are called OE Style flares (like the SR5 ones). Hopefully the splash guards will match up. These OE flares seem to be exactly like the SR5 flares from the factory. I've got an email in to Conicelli now. Hopefully they'll get back to me pretty quickly. I also have a local Toyota dealer near my house and will swing by there tomorrow to have them check it out too. I'll let everyone know what I find out in case any one else is considering these flares.

I'll have to borrow my firend's digital camera. I just got off the phone with my parts guy. He said the part numbers you reference are valid and he'd charge me only $16.00 each. That seems reasonable to me. What do you think? The only thing is, the part numbers don't specify which vehicle the splash guards fit. For $16.00, I'm willing to take a chance. If it it fits your Highlander, it "should" fit my SR5 with those black textured flares.

Matt,

What reasonable dealer are you using? I live in Mass too. Always looking for the dealer with the most reasonable parts prices.

Since I bought mine a few years back, $16 each seems great. Should fit all 3rd gens with factory flares. Still dont know if they will work with OE Bushwackers. :dunno:
