Front Disconnects

I know awhile back I read that Nuke was working with a company to mass produce his front disco's. Has anyone heard if the deal went through and where we can order a set from? I really really want a set.

Apparently it was Kong's that was going to produce them. Check out Steve's post on page 2 on this ODW thread.

Kong's is not going to be producing them now either. Kong's financial backer backed out, and Steve said they would be closing in about 30 days (if I remember correctly).

That's too bad! I'd be interested for my 1998 for sure.

Lars is making them, coming in a few weeks.

Awesome! Please keep us posted! I'm wondering why we can't do swaybardisconnects in the rear succesfully? Anyone know?

not worth time/money for 1" of travel.

It's more like 5" difference when you have the Addco Swaybars, though! I would love it, because I can't stand the limited travel in the back. It's a tremendous difference.

I know first hand! I have the Rock Stomper Quick Disconnects (front and rear) and when the rear is disconnected and under the right amount of articulation the drivers side end of the swaybar would get forced up over the gas tank bracket. Hard to describe without looking at it- but it happend to me. Had to use a prybar to get it dislodged.

It's actually very easy to create your own. Here's the simple trick, ot work's front or rear. It's not as pretty as the commercial products but it's vituallly free and does the same job.

Take off the sway bar connector. Drill a hole in the connector right where the nut would go. Replace the nut with a hitch pin.

It's a little difficult to remove and replace and it typically requires that you zip tie the connecting links when on the trail, but it's virtually free.

I did this on the front and rear of my 2nd gen 4runner before I trashed the whole sway bar idea completely.

Nuke is currently not making any discos at the moment. He is working out a deal to mass produce is discos. Word is that he's in the final stages and should be back in business soon.

Hopefully we'll be able to get some soon!
