Flasher Relay
 

Does anyone have a pic or some direction of the location of the flasher relay (2000 4Runner)? I know it's somewhere around the fuse panel under the dash because I can hear it "ticking". I just can't figure out how to get to it and don't want to pull the wrong things apart. I'm looking at upgrading to all LED turn signals and want to install the correct relay.

yes its pretty simple pull off the lower trim panel held on with 4 or so 10mm bolts... once thats out of the way unbolt the two bolts holding the fuse box on pull it down...and turn on a blinker and u will see which one it is

I saw the 2 bolts on the fuse panel and wasn't sure to un-do those or not.

I've added an aftermarket flasher unit on my '02 for my LEDs. It allows my leds to operate perfectly.

Just remember, these units are also responsible for the audible "tick-tock, tick-tock" sound you here every time you flip your turn signals on. As far as this audible chime is concerned, the aftermarket flasher unit I purchased is not as precise as the oem one. Meaning, on occasion, this one will sound one additional "tock" after my turn signal switch is turned off. Doesn't happen every time, but it does happen. I almost don't even notice it any more. Other than that, it works great for my leds.

Oh and one more thing - immeadiately after I installed this particular aftermarket flasher unit, it made a very fast, low audible "tick-tock, tick-tock" for about 2 mins. After that, it never did it again. Has not done it since either.

I bought the unit listed for the "japanese" model (makes sense right), but when I compared it to my oem flasher, I noticed the pins location were backwards?? So I returned it and ordered the one that matched my pins. That one just happened to be part # CF13GL-02 instead (the German/European model...go figure.) Installed that one and it's been working great ever since.

(I have noticed that on occasion when it rains, this flasher unit will make rapid tick-tock noises for a few minutes while driving and then it quits. It doesn't hinder the turn signals from flashing, just makes audible noise.)

Granted the one I have works, but like I said above, it could be better. I may try one from autolumination and see how it compares.
