final decision time on sliders
 

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of Stubbs HD/SKO sliders for my 2002 4Runner. The last decision point relates to slider length. 66 inch or 64 inch. I'm in favor of the 66 inch version and my searching on Yotatech has not revealed definitive answers about my main concern:

Will the 66 inch sliders result in tire rub on the sliders if I'm running 285/75/16 tires? Is there a tire size when this becomes an issue? I won't be running 35s, but 255/85/16 could be in my future.

For reference, I've currently got a the SS 7.2 lift. No body lift at this point.

If the 66" is crowding into both front and rear fender and there is an option of only 2" less than get the shorter one. An inch on each end is not much. I wish my sliders had an inch on each end, especially the front.

If you have no future plans to add tires and/or suspension mods that require you to get into the "danger zone" you're talking about, then by all means get the longer ones since you'll never have to worry about it. I'm not familiar with the Stubbs on your rig, but I'd think the slider doesn't go to the extreme edge of the wheel well. also, if you have a means to make larger tires fit or to add suspension mods - then you most likely have the capability to modify the tip of a slider should you need clearance.

Typically you won't really need that extra inch unless you're putting large tires on somewhat stock suspension and need to cut out metal. but yes, an inch on each end is not much and in terms of protection you'll most likely never find an object that makes it past that 1" less protection and hits your body since it's so close to the edge. so what it really comes down to is an aesthetic decision that only you can make :con:
