Fender Trim

Hey guys,

I'm not liking my chrome trim and would like to replace it with something more durable and more black. :D

Anyone have any suggestions/tips for what kind of trim would be good? (I love the Bushwackers but not for $500+ Can.)

Any tips on how the self-adhesive ones work etc...?

Thanks,

Warren

Warren, drop on down to Bellingham.
NWOR has the flares a lot cheaper.
Should be around $250 for the set of 4.

Theirs may be the bundled set though where they are matt black, instead of shiny like mine.
I'd have to look at my catelog.

Mine are ordered in two sets to get them that way.

Cool! Thanks guys.

Anyone see any spot rust when they removed their old trim?

No rust, but the trim made a line all around in the paint.

Most of the lines came out after Porter Cabling it several times.

Me too.

I have the textured set, frankly they aren't as textured as they are a matte finish. When they are clean, the sheen is similar to my Smittybilt stuff. Here's a close shot, not sure if you can tell.

They look good but how do they attach and will they take kindly to a tree nick and/or scratches?

Mounting and Durability

Well, the mounting? I put them on about 5 or more years ago. I think there was a plastic fastener that went up through factory supplied holes.

As far as the durability, I think this is where the textured/matte finish units are better than the gloss finish. The matte finish seems to mask scratches pretty well. I would think the gloss would amplify scrathes and gouges. Most of my offroading around here are narrow trails and I end up smacking saplings with my brush guard and flares. I think they have held up great.

Good to know.

Thanks

I got mine when my mother drove straight into a stump in the middle of a parking lot. I guess she didn't know we parked right in front of it when she moved up. Overall, i'm glad she ran into the stump. I love my bw-flares (matte). Mine are on there pretty tight too. My rear bumper's sagging a bit low but, the flares are still snug.
