Exhaust Tip Recommendation? 3rd Generation
Hello all,
I am new to this forum, I just purchased an amazing vehicle.... 2000 4runner Limited - Desert Dune Metallic - 13,000 miles on it (sounds crazy, huh?) I love everything about it. I'm thinking about buying a few things to spruce it up a bit. Would you be able to recommend an exhaust tip that you have or have seen that you really like? (brand?, size?, welded or bolt on?) Thanks for responding! Looking forward to many miles of fun! Matt |
Make sure it is at least 5.75 inches in diameter and really really shiny. :great:

i don't know a thing about exhaust tips. i current have my exhaust cut off just behind the rear axle... :hillbill:
Also, welcome. Did you do a carfax on it to make sure that 13k was correct? If it is, then good find! |

Hello all,
I'm not really looking for the Japanese hatchback rice blower look.... I'd like a nice stainless steel one, preferably one that fits properly and doesn't stick out too far from the side. I like the look of the new Valor ones for the 4th generation... something like that would be ideal. By the way, I did run a Carfax on it, came up totally clean. The dealership I purchased it from said it was an older couple who were the original owners, only used it in the winter. Lucky me! |
Yup - cut it off just behind the rear wheel so you don't crunch it while stuffing that tire.
Oh wait, that's not what you meant..... |
There are TRD exhaust tips that look sweet. I've seen them for sale seperately from the whole cat-back exhaust system. There are several styles and they all have the "TRD" embelem etched into the side.
They are not ricey or anything, just stylized. |
Thanks SC4runner...
Any idea where I can find those TRD tips? I've been to their website and Ebay... no luck. :) |

Matt- I got a quote on one from my Toyota dealer. They should have a TRD catalog at the parts counter. I think it cost about $50, but, its the best ones ive seen. Have you seen any pictures of them yet on the net?

gentlemen,
i think the ribbing has grown old really quick. all the guy asked for is a recommendation on an exhaust tip. at least he hasn't asked about the tornado! (note to matthew: do NOT ask about the tornado!) :D stay on topic, fellas. bob |

I went to autozone and got a really nice stainless steel one for $20. Fits perfectly and looks good! It's also a resonator, so when you step on the gas, it sounds like it has some power. Not a ricer sound and not the sound of a magnaflow.

bad picture but you get the idea, its not one of those thin wimpy steel ones either

Here's mine, I got it from a local exhaust shop, it's really nice, I love it. It's long enough so that you can't see where it ends from anywhere but directly from the back of the truck. I can't wait to get supercharged and get a 2.5" exhaust so that the connection from tip to pipe doesn't look as bad (shiny, oxydized (not quite rusted)). Here ya go...
