exhaust shop pricing
hey all
i need a new exhuast for my runner and im thinking of getting a custom one made that comes out right before my rear drivers side tire. i need new everything from the header back. becuase it is all rusty and falling apart after 18 good years of service. how much should i expect to pay (an educated guess will do fine) thanks all. o BTW where can i get my hands on a yotatech sticker? |
i paid about $220 for dynomax muffler, dynomax high flow cat, and 2 1/4'' piping. That price includes my install all welded up nice.

Check your state laws to make sure that you can put the exhaust out there.
I paid $189 for a flowmaster, new 2.25 pipe from cat back, and install. |
you cannot have the exhuast exit there... regardless of the state.. it is federally illegal on any roadway per United States Department of Transportation for any passenger vehicle to have an exhuast exit before the rear axle... it is legal in this location for a pickup as the exhuast is already behind the passenger cabin, but is illegal on any suv/passenger vehicle

damn it,
thanks for the info you just saved me a few dead presidents so can i have it turn down and exit in the middle of the car but behind the rear axle? or does it have to exit out from under the vehicle? and if the second option is good, will i run into any heat problems in the cab? thanks for the info guys |
anywhere behind the rear axle is fine... however, if you dont route it all the way to an edge of the vehicle be prepared for loud drone inside..... the sound will resonate worse that way.....
also as for heat, it shouldnt cause a problem.... |
Mustangs including Saleen and Roush have exhausts exiting before the rear tires so I'm not sure it is "illegal" in passenger cars. Some of us even have "turn downs" just after the cats. The exhaust sound bounces off the ground and sounds very loud, thumping back up.
Pitchar I also have a Paxton supercharged Mustang GT |
yeah my friend's 95 mustang 5.0 has borla side exit exhaust on it that's 50 state legal. But his is not b/c he is not running his cats. there's not enough space to run them unless the pipes go to the rear and then bend back to infront of the rear wheel.
I too wanted to do this and if i could get away with not running a cat i would do it but word to the wise, if you wheel enough it will get ripped off or smashed. |
