exhaust??

I was just wondering if cutting my muffler off, and running a straight pipe would be ok??

Any thoughts..:pat:

denicola33 10-22-2003 08:40 AM

ive done that to my trucks in the past and it was ok, it sounded really crappy, what id recomend is gettin a flowmaster 40 series muffler, they sound really good and tehy give you more torque than straight pipin it

Thanks for the input, but dont most v6's sound like pissed off bumble bees anyway...hahaha:laugh:

So I take it you want it LOUD!?!

Like denicola33 suggested, go with the Flowmaster 40 or a Magnaflow. Those are pretty loud!!

I have a Flowmaster 60 series, not as loud but I don't get the annoying drone on the freeway and it has a low rumble and no raspy high-pitched sound.

A striaght pipe would be fine, but the resonance might drive you (or others) nuts. Glasspacks are "loud" too. That's what I have, so that's my vote.

Mine was $52 installed. No disappointments there.

Corey has a nice exhaust page. The link is in my sig.

I don't know anything about your rig, but to get an idea on what it will sound like, disconnect the exhaust from the cat and move it over to the side. Ive done it a few times. Its so loud that I get headaches after about a minute of driving. It seriously hurts because your sitting right on top of the pipe and it just bounces off the ground and you get ALL of the sound. Thats why its good to just disconnect it. When you make it down the road and you feel like your head is going to explod... its two bolts and your back in action. The only thing is that its much easier to work on when its cold. Oh, and also you loose all your torque so you have to rev the poo out of it which makes the headaches even worse.

My truck has an O2 sensor post cat that wont let me do that... well it would, but my truck would sputter and throw a CEL I'm sure.

We did that on my friends Pathfinder. Dang was that loud!

thanks for all the replies, but i guess i dont want it to be that loud. maybe just a little more rumble on take off.
also, i'm going to the deck plate mod this weekend and thought it might be nice to do the exhaust also.:welder: :saw:
