emergency brake light wont shut off after lift install.

the emergency brake light wont turn off after i installed the SS #1.51 lift.

we installed the new brakeline and bled the brakes and the light is still on.

everything looks and feels fine in the brakes.

any suggestions?

It sounds simple, but did you fill the master cylinder?? They are pretty hearty on the fluid.

My 99 runner is very sensitive to the brake fluid level. If it dips even a tiny bit under the full line, my e-brake light will not turn off. All I have to do is fill it to the "full" line on the brake resevior, pump the brakes a few times and the light turns off.

im pretty sure its all the way full.
ill go check now.

TRDrunner 04-21-2007 01:43 PM

just started it and the light was off.

im not sure what was up.

Jeenyus04 04-21-2007 01:44 PM

i no on my 85 theres a little sensor where the cable is clamped on the the "stick" that you pull to engage the ebrake.

TRDrunner 04-21-2007 01:59 PM

yeah i thought that was it.

i pushed the button and even unplugged it.

it still stayed on.

it was probably an issue with the brake fluid level.

TRDrunner 04-21-2007 03:53 PM

i couldt get the front done because no shops were open on saturdays to compress the coilovers today.

stupid.

So does your 4runner look like a stink bug :hillbill:

TRDrunner 04-21-2007 07:49 PM

haha yes. very, with 265's on it.

the ride is good though.

i like the stiffness of the lancruiser coils and shocks.

TRDrunner 04-21-2007 07:51 PM

how is your flowmaster 50?

i have the 40 and its LOUD.

i was going to put a resonator on it to tone it down a bit.

is the 50 loud in the cabin because the drone on the 40 is crazy.

etan 04-22-2007 01:19 AM

it might be the fluid level.

but there might be some tension from the lift on the e-brake. like SS's e-brake relocation bracket relieves tension off the brake after a lift is applied..... and i think you said you had LC coil's so you musta gotten a considerable amount of lift that could affect it.

TRDrunner 04-22-2007 01:44 PM

yeah i installed the parking cable bracket.

the light went off after about 15 miles of driving.

TRDrunner~
The 50 series I have sounds pretty good I think...its a little more mellow but still sounds mean. In the cabin you can hear it a little bit but not bad at all (and thats with the stereo off). I had a 40 on my 94 4runner and the 50 is for sure quiter in the cabin. I would definetly recomend a 50 series!! I dont know how much quiter the resenator will do for your 40 as far as sound in the cabin. If you dont like the 40 I would just go with the 50 :bigok: I love mine!
