ELocker Problems

The elocker on my '97 SR5 quit last week...

Got myself into a bit of trouble in some deep snow. Went to use my trusty locker, and all I got was a blinking locker light.

In the past it would blink for a few seconds while the locker engaged, and then light solid once engaged.

Now it just blinks and blinks...

Before anyone asks, yes I'm trying to use it in 4-low, and yes the vehicle is stopped.

Thought maybe it just wasn't seating or something, so I tried driving very slowly forward and backward with the light flashing - no luck.

Any ideas???

Well, I have this problem currently, just use the search tool, there is plenty of stuff on this topic. Did the try the S-pattern turn when you tried to engage it?

mine engages when my rear tire breaks loose, mine will blink and blink until i break traction

but sometimes, i hit the button and it engages istantly, like it was engaged the whole time

Strange...

It used to work every time I pushed the button without fail. Put it in 4-low, push the button, drop it back in to drive - flash flash flash - solid light.

Haven't tried the s-turn - will give it a try tomorrow.

If that does work, what does that mean? Mechanical problem with the locker iteself?

If it only engages during an s-turn, how much help will that be when I get stuck?? She's a pavement queen that occaisionally gets treated to some trail running - no 'wheelin', so I only use the locker when I get stuck. Works great in the snow... sorry.... it USED to work great in the snow.

I'm tempted to take it to the stealer to see if they have any ideas... I can feel my wallet trembling already.

crawl underneath and make sure it plugged in tight

Yea, well the S turn is just an idea, I have heard from other threads here that some trucks need some movement to have the locker engaged. I know exactly what you mean about the dealer though, I think mine has a problem that I cannot fix. I hear the motor trying to engage it, but nothing happens. I think maybe I'll go over there tomorrow and see if I can get a quick diagnosis from the techies there.
