Mine soon will have a 6 inch fabtech on it. If you are going to try to go cheap, I would recommend staying in the 2000 to 2004 gen to save some money and also since they seem to really hold their value. Also D-cabs i think are the most expensive of the tacoma styles, so if you like stick, choosing an extended cab or no cab could not only be more compatible for you, but possibly much cheaper.

i've seena newest gen d-cab manual. trd and everything. the guy was just fooling around with it at the stoplight. but i believe 01-04's are all auto.

01-04's are auto's in the D-cab variety. Toyota got smart with the 05+ Dcabs and offered it with a manual. Here's slightly modified D-cab for you....
