door locks and gas door lock dont turn

My pass. lock stopped being able to be opened years ago.
Drivers side stopped working awhile back too, and a week ago the gas door stopped working.

I have been putting off fixing it for awhile because I can still get into the drivers door by turning until the lock starts moving and then pull the door handle and the door opens.

Anyways, neither my toyota key, nor another key that came with the truck will work.

I am wondering if anyone has gone the route of re cutting a key at the dealer based on VIN and not a copy of their old key. Did that work for you?
Or did you have to replace all lock cylinders?

thanks.

if no one else sounds in disagreement it would be worth a try at least cheaper, however it maybe that the tumbler is so worn that the new key may be too rigid.

Took all my locks out and to a locksmith as they were not all the same, 87 4runner. Keyed them all the same and rebuilt 3 cylinders and freshened up them all. All looked and worked like new. $50

I know you've probably already tried, but did you use lock ease, like graphite spray or a wax based "dry" lubricant like White Lightning?

People say the dry lube like graphite works the best, but to intitially break the cylinders free, WD-40 worked perfect on mine and it's been a year w/o any problems.

took gas door lock apart last night and it was pretty gummed up. I cleaned in ultrasonic and reassembled. One of the nubs on my key is pretty worn and doesnt allow that pin to detract all the way. I have a spare key that has been used much less but it too doesnt detract that pin enough. Spare was possibly made after enough wear on original key had occured. So Ill get with my toyota dealership and give them my VIN to cut a brand new key without tracing the old one. Hopefully that works.
