Did 2nd Gen Runner Ever Have Brown Tints

I smahed out a window on the trail yesterday and Im ordering a replacement and alot of places are claiming they only have the "bronze tint" but they say it doesnt really look bronze it just looks like a miror tint (which is what I have)

So was there ever a "bronze tint" If so I need a pic

a good pic of mine

http://www.snjschmidt.com/pics/4runner2.jpg

notice the rear quarter window looks brown compaird to the other stuff.

In that pic the front is diffrent from the rest, it is crappy aftermarket stuff that has gone all weird. (and subseqently been replaced)

I would prefer brown over.... pink. :cry2:

Previous owners bought it in Phoenix Arizona, and they were an old couple. So I guess I understand.

Swissdrums 11-07-2005 01:08 PM

mine is bronze in the rear windows...

Fink 11-07-2005 01:14 PM

Rear passenger and cargo are windows are brown, now just knock out the rest of your windows and get all new windows with NO tint and tint it yourself, it'd look MUCH better! On my old 2nd gen it had the brown crap in the back and when I went to get the windows tinted they had to use the mirror tint, a little Mexican looking for me.

Sorry, I got sidetracked. Are the rest of your windows brown on the inside?

Heres a post of mine. I dont know if you'll be able to tell if its the same or not, but the before pic is with what Toyota and 2 tint shops called the bronze factory tint. I think yours looks the same.

If you want a bronze one let me know you can have it, no shipping but i'll meet you halfway. I've got a drivers, drivers passenger and tailgate all in bronze. I've got the factory smoke tint on mine. Yah there bronze but free!

4rnr 11-07-2005 04:35 PM

HMMM interesting I dont mind the tint it has. And as for knocking out all the windows im about to start my winter project that will be a sas, exo cage, and Id like to bob it, I hate how much glass ive got, id love to convertible it!!!

Fink 11-07-2005 04:45 PM

Well then just get whatever kind of glass you can get, if you're gonna bob it...no worries!

I've got a sawzall I could lend you. Just kidding or not. The free glass offer still stands, if you'lld like i'll throw in 2 doors, a tailgate, running boards, window tracks, motors, ect ect.

I replaced a window when my 95 4runner got broken into. They used the bronze tint and it does not match perfectly....a little lighter in color to what I have on the other windows.

AW1090 11-07-2005 04:54 PM

What interior color do you have?....I've got the bronze tint with the oak interior and it seems that most of the 2nd gen 4runners I see here that have either the tan or oak interior have the bronze tint.

lucky3 11-07-2005 05:03 PM

tan interior bronze tint

tombothetominator 11-07-2005 05:49 PM

My 91 had the bronze tint on all of the back windows. I just had 20% tint put over everything, and it looks great in my opinion.

One way to know for sure is to hold a white piece of paper on the inside of the glass and look at it.
