coil springs
will 98 4runner rear springs fit on a 91 runner?
|
I'm pretty sure thats gonna be a no, but I'm sure someone else will chime in with a definite response.
What are you looking to get out of new coils? If you're trying to get rid of the sag, Downey and Old Man Emu seem to be the coils of choice. If you're looking for some lift, OME HDs (901 I believe) or Land Cruiser (FJ80 1991-1997 I think) coils are pretty popular too. I believe the OME's will give about 2" over stock and cruiser coils a little more. |
Didn't they have rear leafs in 91?? not coils?
|
No, all 2nd gens have coils. I think that generation ran 1990-1995.

i have some 98 coils and didn't want to pull my old ones before i was sure. yes this is to prevent sag

i asked this question a few years ago when a friend lifted his 3rd gen. nobody was able to give me a straight up yes or no. i think the only way to know is to try. if i was more mechanically knowledged at the time, i would have tried it. but seeing how the FJ80 coils fit in the 2nd gens, it makes me think that toyota would use close to the same set up, but who knows. if you do try let us know. (its pretty easy to swap out the coils so please try) :)

i am almost certain that it will not. the first time i ordered my rear coils for my 96 4runner they sent me some that were for the 2nd generattion i think OME 900 or something. when i went to put them in they were a lot wider than the stock coils and would not fit in the spring pockets. so i wouldnt really waste your time.
